McKesson pays $18 million to settle CDC shipping allegations | Modern Healthcare

Read the full article: McKesson pays $18 million to settle CDC shipping allegations | Modern Healthcare:

"McKesson contracted with the CDC for its Vaccines for Children program, which provides federally purchased vaccines to children age 18 and younger. McKesson distributed the vaccines from manufacturers to healthcare providers. According to the government contract, the shipping of vaccines requires temperature monitors in each box, and those monitors must be programmed to detect if the air temperature falls below 2 degrees Celsius or rises above 8 degrees Celsius. The Department of Justice alleged McKesson did not set the temperature monitors to the proper range, yet still submitted claims for services. "

HDMA’s 2013 Track-and-Trace Conference: Right Here Waiting for H.R. 3204 - FDA Law Blog

FDA Law Blog: HDMA’s 2013 Track-and-Trace Conference: Right Here Waiting for H.R. 3204:

"With fingers crossed, attendees looked ahead to the future of track-and-trace. Panelists expressed that the national system will hopefully make it harder for bad actors to corrupt the integrity of the supply chain, as the current patchwork of state pedigree laws allows bad actors to shop around for more lenient states. It is hoped that this bill will put everyone on a level playing field and reduce loopholes."

Will The CA e-Pedigree Dates Slip Again?

Updated November 24, 2025

"In response to enactment of the [DSCSA] Act, the California Board of Pharmacy (Board) has issued a public notice stating that California's e-Pedigree provisions have been inactivated. The Board also noted that it will sponsor legislation this year to repeal the e-Pedigree provisions that have been inactivated."

Things are different now than any time prior to any of the earlier delays. . . ."

CA e-Pedigree - Nice Analysis

Big Sur Coast in Central California looking so...Image via Wikipedia
Updated May 26, 2022:
California Board of Pharmacy Re-awaken:  'via Blog this'

If you're following the evolution of California e-Pedigree, then you'll want to read this analysis by Dirk Rodgers.

The key takeaway for me is, Board of Pharmacy guidance is needed before folks can plan and act:
". . . the Board needs to provide some guidance on, but there are some other very important questions that need to be answered before companies are likely to fully invest in pedigree solutions.  Here I’m referring to both solution providers and companies within the supply chain."
