HDMA Revises 856 Advance Ship Notice Documentation

Read the full article: HDMA revises 856 Advance Ship Notice documentation:

"That HDMA has come out twice with updates is a testament to the urgency of getting data-forwarding practices in order among US drug distributors: come January, distributors will need to be able to verify shipments (at the lot level) to pharmacies and other customers. This is the legislated mandate from Congress when it passed the Drug Quality and Security Act (of which DSCSA is a part); FDA is on call to Congress to issue guidelines for drug tracking by late November."

"Prosecutors say officials of the DEA and FDA and members of Congress warned FedEx at least six times since 2004 that illegal Internet pharmacies used the global shipper to deliver drugs.

The indictment says FedEx knowingly shipped drugs for two illegal Internet pharmacies, the Chhabra-Smoley Organization and Superior Drugs. In 2003, the DEA shut down RxNetwork, one of the Chhabra-Smoley businesses, and arrested Vincent Chhabra on charges of violating the Controlled Substances Act."

Read the full article: Mind the mo: Moustaches may raise burn risk with home oxygen therapy - MedCity News:

"To test their theory that facial hair places oxygen therapy users at a higher risk for burns, the researchers set up mannequins with and without human hair mustaches, outfitted them with the nasal tubing and exposed them to a spark.

The tubing on the mustached models ignited while those without mustaches did not, suggesting that concentrated oxygen together with kindling in the form of facial hair is a dangerously flammable combination."
